Mid-Week Manna 1/15/20

One of the coolest gifts I received at Christmas was a season ticket for Georgia Tech Baseball. If you want to see some great baseball in a great setting, come join me for a game this spring!

Having worked as an umpire, I always loved the story of the three umpires who were asked:

“How do you call balls and strikes?”

The first said, “I call them as I see them.”

The second said, “I call them as they are.”

But the third said, “They are as I call them.”

As we begin a new year, we are like the third umpire. Our lives are as we call them. We can’t be in control of everything, but we can be in control of how we respond to what life throws at us.

As the Apostle Paul said so long ago:

“No, in all things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us… for nothing will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
